Golf Committee | Rules of Golf

We're here to help make the rules easier to understand!

As the governing body of golf in Canada, Golf Canada holds the exclusive right to govern, publish and distribute the Rules of Golf in Canada.

The Rules are typically updated every four years through the work of the R&A and the United States Golf Association. A joint committee of these associations, on which the Chair of Golf Canada’s Rules and Amateur Status Committee sits, is charged with revising, modernizing and improving the Rules of Golf.

We've compiled and created a 'Common Rules Situations' card for our membership to assist you with the most common rules encountered on the golf course.  Members are encouraged to bookmark this page on their phones and/or print the document out and carry it with you.  The link will show the most current version of the card with the date at the bottom of the page.  If you decide to print it off, check back from time to time to ensure you have the most recent edition.

For all eQuinelle member golf events, please ensure you review the event specific rules sheet prior to play as some of our local rules may be amended for that event.
